Coach McCabe breaks down exactly what happens at the Competition Expo — and why this is the most important event a serious specialist can attend this year.
Serious kickers, punters, and long snappers know that improvement comes from competing against great talent and getting the right coaching. The One On One Kicking Competition Expo is designed to do exactly that.
This event brings specialists together for a competitive environment where athletes can showcase their abilities, receive evaluation from elite coaches, and gain valuable recruiting exposure.
Mike McCabe is the owner and founder of One On One Kicking, operating out of Millbrook (AL), Birmingham (AL), and Atlanta (GA). He is one of the top high school, college, and NFL evaluators for specialists in the country.
Since 2001, Coach McCabe has trained hundreds of punters, kickers, and specialists, helping them earn scholarships across every level of college football. In 2012, Ryan Allen and Cairo Santos — that year's Ray Guy and Lou Groza Award winners — were both trained by One On One Kicking, the first time a single facility trained both award winners in the same year.
McCabe is a former All-American punter at Illinois State University under Urban Meyer. He had a brief professional career with the Chicago Bears and the World League of American Football before coaching at the college and high school levels.
Brett Swenson is one of the most accomplished kickers in Michigan State University history. Over four seasons (2006–2009), he became the program's all-time leader in field goals (70), extra points (158), and total points scored (368).
In 2009, he was named First-Team All-Big Ten, Team MVP (the first kicker in MSU history to win the award), and Lou Groza Award Semifinalist. He participated in the 2010 Senior Bowl and signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent.
Athletes who have come through this program have gone on to compete at some of the top programs in the country — and in the NFL.
